Myth of the day: Sequins are only for evening.
Truth of the day: Sequins, gold, and lots of shine are good anytime!
As we approach the holiday season, it sure won’t hurt to add a bit of festive sparkle to your work and school outfits. Here’s how…Mix it with casual. The full length sequined gown might work for Vegas, but not for the office. Tone down the glitz, pair jeans with a sequined tee or a sparkly mini with an oversized cable sweater.
Try discreet. You don’t need to scream sparkle, you may just want to whisper it with earrings, a collar, or a high shine tank under a cardigan.
Think transition, when you’re going straight from work to party. A pair of lace high heels (Federle, $50) with a pile of diamante jewelry can be added to that sequined tank and transform it into a show stopping outfit.
Accessorize! Play it safe(r) with a sparkly headband or sequined shoes, the Karea pump ($40), a glittery mid-heel, looks great with jeans and the Keeney ($60), a high-heeled sequined bootie, can be paired with leggings and a shift dress.
Plan ahead. Burberry and Antonio Berardi both showed spring 2013 sequin looks that work for day. So when you’re shopping, ensure your pieces will work overtime next season.
