Ultimate Coachella Survival Guide

Published 04/05/2013 by

You’re counting down the days till that “little” music festival in Indio, California called Coachella. If you were lucky enough to score sold-out passes we’re totally jealous. Hitting the Coachella grounds will be unreal. Ready to go? We have a list of nifty tips to make your weekend that extra sweet.

The Uniform

Your Coachella uniform may include one or more of the following: vintage denim cut-offs, crochet, fringe or tie-dyed anything, rocker tees and crop tops, easy lightweight dresses, boho braids and floppy hats. Cool sunnies are a must—try the Radcliffea or Icenhour. Bandeau and bikini tops are key when temps get high, but layer on when the nights get windier and chillier.

Fancy Footwork

When picking out that perfect, street style snap-worthy outfit, we say go with closed-toed shoes like ankle booties (we like the Azrielle), moto boots, canvas slip-ons (like the Pahls) and sneakers. We’d steer away from flip-flops, it gets dusty and dirty and if you like to get right up front at the stages (we did at The Black Keys one year), you’ll risk the chance of being stepped on in the packed crowds.

Heavy Hydration

No one looks back on their life and remembers the nights they had plenty of sleep right? That combined with smokin’ hot weather and non-stop dancing can drain even the most seasoned partier. Don’t forget to hydrate. Bring a water bottle for on-site water stations or pick up one of our favourite treats at the food row, fresh strawberry lemonade!

Party Central

From packed hotel pool parties (try Desert Gold at the legendary Ace Hotel in Palm Springs) to the after-hours roller rink on the campgrounds, Coachella party fun is everywhere. Make new friends, cause you never know where you’ll score a ridiculous invite to an exclusive soiree.

Getting Mobile

Your schedule is jam packed with cool bands and there’s no way you’re missing The XX. Keep track of your shows and find the stages with the Coachella 2013 mobile app (it’s not up yet, but should be soon so stay tuned!). While you’re on your phone, upload snapshots onto Instagram using hashtag #Coachella2013. Your friends at home will be utterly jealous!
