Tips & Tricks: Pack like a Pro for a Weekend Getaway

Published 05/09/2013 by

With summer right around the corner and long weekends in sight, there’s no better time to plan a mini-getaway. Whether its Las Vegas with the besties (we smell trouble), a cottage getaway with the BF or a summer festival to dance the night away, we have a list of handy packing tips to get you from A to B in a breeze.

It’s All About Versatility

It really is all about packing versatile pieces. You could rock the same black leather mini-skirt, and just swap out your top, women’s shoes and accessories and you’ll have a completely new look. Choose key pieces like boyfriend jeans, a chambray shirt, the perfect t-shirt, flat sandals (like the peachy Arsenia), wedge sneakers and play stylist to see how many outfits you can mix and match.

Get Shady

No matter where you’re headed. A cool pair of sunnies is always needed. Soaking up the sun poolside, riding in the car on a road trip or recovering from a night out (hide those dark circles)! Go playful with the floral wayfarers or the aviators, classics you can’t go wrong with.

Double Duty

Trying to fit our entire collection of beauty and makeup products into a weekend bag can be quite the challenge. But seriously, we don’t wake up lookin’ this way. Opt for dual purpose products like Make Up For Ever’s Pro Finish powder foundation – it’s a foundation and powder in one or Benefit’s BeneTint - a rose-tinted lip and cheek stain that’s a celeb fave.

The Kit

Grab a small Ziploc bag and create a mini emergency kit. We’re talking band-aids (we love our Hello Kitty ones), aspirin, wet wipes, eye drops, cotton swabs, safety pins and a Tide pen. You never know when you might need it and when you do, you’ll be super thankful you packed it.

Say Cheese

We love to collect memories. Snap pics for Instagram or go old school with a Lomography La Sardina film camera (they come in super fun patterns) or do instant credit card sized photos with the Fuji Instax Mini 8 (it comes in 5 colours).
