Guys Getaway

Published 06/19/2013 by

There are plenty of reasons to get out of town for a guys getaway during the summer, and for every weekend you decide to travel you’ll have to pack. That’s why we’ve put together this handy list of tips to help you pack light for a quick escape.

The Bag – When I take a weekend jaunt I prefer to pack everything into one duffle bag. If you don’t have a duffle bag yet, I recommend taking a look at the great selection from Herschel. Whether you’re travelling by plane, train or automobile, a duffle bag is a great way to make sure you don’t bring too much, and it’s easy to throw over your shoulder or into a cargo hold.

The Clothes – Packing light is all about keeping it simple and packing lots of basics. If you’ll be sitting in a business meeting or attending a formal affair, bring a neutral coloured suit and tie. Switch the shirt you wear under it each day to change up your look. When it’s time to go out at night wear the blazer over a t-shirt with jeans. A light cardigan or v-neck sweater will keep you warm and cozy when you get chilly and can be easily dressed up or down. Top off your bag with your favorite jeans, some solid colour tees, and a pair chino shorts.

The Shoes – Unless you’re going to the beach or the boardroom, a pair of slip-on loafers, is the perfect travelling shoe. They’re super comfortable, and easy to put on and take off when going through airport security. Moreover, they can be worn from day to night with ease.

The Rest – Put all your toiletries in a simple zip-up case, and do the same with all your cords, wires and other tech gear — not the same zip-up bag (duh). This will prevent you from forgetting, losing, tangling, or spilling all those hard to travel necessities.

Toss your bag over your shoulder and you’ll be ready for whatever your weekend holds.
