The best new jewellery on the market today doesn’t belong to the storied houses of Chopard, Dior or Bvlgari (although we are partial to Céline’s new geometric necklaces and rings). Instead, we’re craving jewellery inspired by the world around us, not to mention full-on labours of love for their makers.
Possibly the designer that started it all, Catbird has become synonymous with those beautifully delicate stackable rings. The label recently expanded to include earrings and necklaces, but never strays too far from their artisanal Brooklyn roots. Keep stacking’em and don’t look back.
Created in New York by artist Eva Zuckerman and her business partner Ann Gorga, Eva Fehren first caught eyes with their ‘X’ collection where simple gold rings with pale champagne diamonds were fused together to create this now signature silhouette. Our new favourite collection? The line’s thorn series feels perfectly subversive, mirroring the moody runway collections of fall 2013.
For London-based jewellery designer Noor Fares, her now three-collection strong namesake label is always inspired by her travels. The designer often uses iconography from cultures that have touched her, with talisman and charms featured predominately throughout her line. Our pick: “Fly Me to the Moon” is a collection of winged earrings and crescent moon pendants.
This five-time New Gen Award winner is a favourite of Anna Wintour (no easy feat) and counts Beyoncé, Rihanna and Florence Welch as fans. And after one look at Jones’ body armor-like creations that wrap around fingers, wrists and necks –you can see that his designs are not for the faint of heart.
Quirky designs –Man Repeller approved. No really, Leandra Medine of Man Repeller fame is featured heavily throughout the site and has been seen sporting stacks of Zeus rings all summer long.
Having spent most of the summer living vicariously through our Instagram feeds, we couldn’t help but notice our fave bloggers sporting the same line of jewellery during their travels to Greece, Morocco and beyond. Zeuner’s delicate gold jewelry has been sported by everyone from Jennifer Lopez to The Blonde Salad’s Chiara Ferragni –their bling of choice? Her evil eye collection takes the top spot.
