Top 5 PS4 Games

Published 11/03/2013 by

Can’t decide which game to buy for your new PS4? You’re in luck because I’ve looked through them all and have put together this list of my top five picks. All these games really show off what the PS4 can do visually, and are a blast to play as well. Well, let’s get to it then!

5. Call of Duty: Ghosts

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the best selling PS4 game to date. With its fantastic graphics, new alien invasion mode, and deep co-op game play, it’s easy to see why Ghosts is flying off shelves. This first-person shooter takes place in a world where South America has united and is at war with the USA, but it’s the multi-player gaming experience that really makes the game.

Call of Duty: Ghosts on PS4 has amazing graphics and some impressive features. Levels are huge, and one even takes place in space with a beautifully detailed Earth in the background. Zombie mode has been replaced with “Extinction” mode, AKA Alien Invasion! Players who love zombie mode shouldn’t worry though, surviving the alien invasion delivers just as much fun as enduring the zombie apocalypse did in past games. Top that off with dynamic co-operative game play in multi-player mode, and this is the game of choice for at home soldiers.

4. Resogun

Resogun is a flashy retro-style shooter that has spectacular visuals. There’s hardly a moment on screen that a bullet, explosion, or light display isn’t dazzling you. This game doesn’t just rely on looks to get by though. Resogun is a fairly simple game. You control a spaceship that you use to destroy enemies and rescue civilians. The game play gains depth from the cylindrical levels, which makes it necessary to memorize enemy movement patterns in order to beat the level. Resogun is a wonder of bright lights, lasers, and zooming spaceships that is addictive to play or watch.

3. NBA 2K14

There had to be at least one sports game included on my list and my sports game of choice is NBA 2K14. The graphics here look so incredible that they often times seem real. When I see a player’s grin after making a basket a smile tends to sneak across my face as well. The broadcast style presentation of the game is a nice touch, and it is complete with on-court interviews that are actually relevant to the game play that just happened!

The PS4 version of NBA 2K14 has different modes from the PS3 version. My Career mode lets you create your own basketball player and nurture him from the draft to the big leagues. The career mode can be pretty cheesy — funny in instances, at times it feels like the developers took a lazy short-cut. NBA 2K14 also has better controls which will be noticed by more advanced players. All-in-all, NBA 2K14 is fun because of its realistic visuals and smooth game play.

2. Flower

Flower is unlike any game you have ever played before, and I mean that. The whole ‘experience’ lasts for about 90 minutes of game play and takes you through three stages. You begin as a a single flower pedal blowing in the wind. As you touch more flowers you gain more pedals and awaken the wonderful world around you. Flower is a deep game that touches on themes like life, destruction, and rebirth. The PS4 version of this game brings better graphics that make movement more realistic, and better controls that let you use a softer touch. Flower is a game that you have to play to understand. It blurs the line between gaming and art.

1.  Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag

It was a no brainer for me to choose Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag as the number one game for PS4. The game takes place in the Caribbean in the 1700s – prime pirating time. The open world contains a seemingly endless supply of missions that will have you running and jumping across rooftops, stealthily taking out corrupt government officials, and picking up plenty of loot along the way. This is similar to previous Assassin’s Creed games, but where Black Flag really makes an impression is when you are sailing the Caribbean ocean.

Black Flag lets you captain your own pirate ship. You can sink and loot other ships while your crew sings sea shanties and whales jump out of the water just to the side of your ship. The visuals in Black Flag are unrivaled. It really is a sight to see when you sail into the sunset as your ship crashes through giant waves. If you’ve ever dreamed of going on a pirate adventure, this is the game for you!
