What you’ll need:

-          Base coat and high-shine top coat

-          Sheer pink or nude polish

-          Glittery gold polish; preferably with a thin-tip artistry brush

How to do it:

  1. Apply base coat and allow to dry.
  2. Apply two coats of your sheer pink or nude polish.Allow to dry.
  3. Using your glittery gold polish, outline a semi-circle around the base of your nail, slightly less than a quarter of the way down your nail. Tip: if you don’t have access to a polish with a thin-tip artistry brush, simply use a thin craft brush instead.
  4. After your semi-circle has dried, simply fill it in with your gold polish. Allow to dry then repeat again to ensure maximum glitter coverage.
  5. When the glitter is mostly dry, apply your high-shine top coat. Your glittery half-moon mani should be nothing short of simple, chic and seriously NYE worthy.

What you’ll need:

-          Base coat and high-shine top coat

-          Cobalt blue polish. Any jewel tone screams NYE and mix it up with a matte finish for a twist.

-          Fine-tipped sparkly silver polish or sparkly silver nail pen.

How to do it:

  1. Apply base coat and allow to dry.
  2. Apply two coats of blue polish (or another opaque shade of your choice). Allow to dry.
  3. Using your fine-tip sparkly silver polish or nail pen, draw a delicate line from one end to the other on each nail, making sure to leave your ring finger Frenchie-free as this will act as your accent nail. Tip: if you mess up on your line, simply fill it in a little bit thicker on your second coat.
  4. Apply a second coat of silver using the same technique.
  5. On your ring finger or accent nail, use your fine-tip brush or nail pen to make a dot in the middle of your nail. From there, outline two triangles from either end of the dot, gradually creating a bow. When your outline is dry, simply fill it in with your sparkly silver.
  6. Allow nails to fully dry and apply your high-shine top coat.

What you’ll need:

-          Base coat and high shine top coat.

-          Black or nearly-black polish to act as your base colour.

-          A complimentary, dense glitter polish (i.e. a polish that contrasts yet ‘goes’ with your base colour. The key is to find a super-glittery polish that covers and builds). Glitter polish can also be substituted for dry glitter.

How to do it:

  1. Apply base coat and allow to dry.
  2. Apply two relatively thick coats of your base polish. Allow maximum drying time between coats.
  3. If using a glitter polish, wipe the brush nearly clean on bottle neck before applying the first coat of glitter. If using a dry glitter, in a clean tray dab your craft brush in a clear coat, then dab it lightly in your dry glitter. Start ¾ up your nail and apply a thin first coat of glitter.
  4. For your second coat of glitter, wipe your brush off a little less or dab it in the glitter a little more, ensuring that more glitter will be added on your nail. Start only half way up your nail this time and apply a second, thicker coat.
  5. For your third and final coat of glitter, ensure your brush has as much glitter on it as possible without dripping. Start only a quarter of the way up your nail and apply a thick coat of glitter, focusing on the tip of your nail.
  6. When glitter is semi-dry, apply top coat, this will allow you to blend any blemishes.

Whichever mani you choose for New Year’s Eve, you can be sure you’ll be ringing in the new year in truly tasteful talons.
