Top Footwear Trends for Spring 2014

Published 01/06/2014 by

Well it’s fugly cold outside. Like it is totally unacceptable weather. The kind of weather that makes you want to say, “Sorry folks, but I am in hibernation mode for the next 2-3 months – you can reach me by text or FB chat…because it’s also too frigid to talk.” Yep. Alas, since we’ve yet to perfect our body clone for work/school slave labour (insert deep sigh here) – a little escapism is in order. Shoe porn! Yes, let’s talk about all the delicious styles we’ll be wearing come sunshine-y weather. And in the meantime, let these next couple months give us time to perfect our experimental pedicures for debuting this spring/summer 2014. Oh yeah, it’s gonna be ah-MAZ-ing and that toque will be just a distant ugly memory boxed away and duck taped at the back of the closet BEHIND your new spicy S/S14 shoes.

Spring/Summer 2014 Footwear Trends – The White Heel

There is always that month where you want to bust out your sandals but you know you will look a lil cray cray eager beaver if you do. For you, I present the perfect transitional trend, the white hot heel. It says, “Good bye old man winter, hello saucy spring” but it also offers coverage (read: you are showing some restraint because it’s not two piece season yet). Go for a pointy toe if you want the freshest feel.

Spring/Summer 2014 Footwear Trends – The Ankle Cuff Heel

Another option in the transitional footwear category, brings a bit more edge into the fashion equation. This trend started in the fall and hasn’t slowed down. The spring reincarnation is bolder though; this isn’t a delicate T-strap design detail- it’s a downtown cuff that creates a killer line. Grounding a mini with this style is a hot alternative to last year’s combat boot.

Spring/Summer 2014 Footwear Trends – The flatform

Heel-hat’in ladies rejoice. We’ve got the 2014 trend you will run to (because you aren’t wearing pumps you can actually run). You may or may not have jumped on the wedge sneaker train of 2013. Sporty and chic, it provided some cushy extra inches. This year, the flatform has arrived to save your tired tootsies. Super cute with floral dresses and denim shorts overalls, this trend is a non-negotiable for S/S14 music festival fashion.

The classicist. Is that you? Not a fan of fads or trends, you prefer the tried and true classics that have stood the sartorial test of time. Well lookie, lookie, here’s a (gasp!) trend for you. Lady like to the core, this spring a simple strappy sandal in black or white is your perfect plus-one to showcase that classic red pedicure.

Spring/Summer 2014 Footwear Trends – The Neon Heel

Go bright or go home. Neon has returned. But before you grab your shades and turn up your nose, just know that this year day glo has grown up. Neons have arrived in more mature silhouettes making them hell’a wearable. Traditional pump profiles get a spring-in-their-style-step upgrade in electric yellows and sizzling pinks. These puppies will punctuate that already sassy strut you’ve cultivated all winter long.
