This season we just can’t get enough of those purr-fect pumps more fondly referred to as kitten heels. And while you may be quick to discount the stiletto’s shorter cousin, don’t knock it till you try it. They’re functional and, despite popular belief, fierce. Suitable to all of your daytime and night-out looks (and not to mention a whole lot kinder to your feet), kitten heels are clawing their way back to footwear fame. (prepare for more cat-related puns!)
Okay, so admittedly anytime the word “comfort” is used in the same sentence as “heel” you’re more than likely quick to envision your grandma in her Sunday church wear, but I promise you that’s so not what this look is about. Sure, the 2 (ish)-inch heel falls on the more demure side as far as heels go, but that’s exactly what gives this type of shoe its appeal. Not all of us are as coordinated in 4 plus inch pumps as we would like to think (or care to admit) and sometimes a ballet flat just doesn’t make the cut.
Functionality aside, the kitten heel is all about subtle chic. Ever popular amongst the likes of TSwift and Alexa Chung, its most often seen paired with flirty dresses and even the occasional skinny jean. Try out the trend for yourself with Call it Spring’s Collalbo or Roessing, and let us know how you wore it.
Whatever way you slice it, this 1950’s stunner is back in a big way. So what do you think? Are kitten heels a must-have right meow? Or are they so just…not?
