”Imagine a fashion magazine full of women just like us – moms, college students, professionals, in all shapes and sizes, on a budget and dressing for the challenges of everyday life.” – Js Everyday Fashion
Jeanette Scott’s website, J’s Everyday Fashion is all about feeling great in what you’re wearing, celebrating fashion no matter who you are and where you’re from, and understanding that great style is not just for the rich and famous. From Orlando FL, Jeanette brings the runway flair to the streets and her love of all things fashion is contagious. We’re super excited to announce that this fashion specialist will be hosting our Orlando Grand Opening store at the Florida Mall. This April 11th & 12th, Call it Spring and Js Everyday Fashion have a party including DJs, snacks and awesome gift with purchase – and don’t forget to bring your invite for 20% off during the event! Check out her website here.
What things are uniquely ‘Orlando’ about your style? (i.e. what about where you live has impacted the way you dress?)
The weather has a huge impact on what I wear. It’s hot and humid most of the year so breezy dresses, shorts and tank tops are must. I also love wearing bright colors and prints, which fits perfectly with the tropical, laid back vibe of Florida.
Define your look in 3 words?
Experimental, eclectic, colorful.
How did you get started blogging?
I started J’s Everyday Fashion as a hobby on a whim. I had a vision for fashion journalism and a site that would offer only budget friendly finds, in a scaled down way. Fast forward to almost 4 years later, and blogging has been my full-time job for over two years!
Do you have any advice to give to young men or women that want to get into this industry?
Success isn’t one big thing, it’s a million little things. One foot in front of the other, a million times in a row. You often feel like you aren’t getting anywhere, but it all adds up. Hard work and resilience is everything.
Which fashionable city would you like to visit next and why?
All of them. I’ve got serious wanderlust. I’d travel anywhere, but the Caribbean and Europe are two of my favorites.
What is your go-to outfit or unofficial uniform?
Distressed jeans and a t-shirt.
What was your biggest sartorial splurge?
A black leather jacket with gold hardware two winters ago.
What is your best cheapie find?
100% silk blouses and leather clutches for $20 – I have several of each. It’s definitely possible to have both quality and a good price.
Fashion-wise, is there anything you would never be caught wearing?
Never say never, but crop tops and/or bandage skirts.
What are your top tips for looking your personal best?
There will always be someone who hates your outfit, no matter how “safe” you play it. So I say GO for it. Never follow the rules. Wear what makes you happy.
What has been the most exciting opportunity you’ve had since you started J’s Everyday Fashion?
I loved traveling to California last year to shoot videos with Walmart.com, and a photo shoot with PopSugar. I also have a writing gig with Disney, and a recurring spot on a national morning show twice a month.
What is your Call it Spring pick of the season?
Lace up and caged heels, boat shoes, and anything with ankle-straps!
