From dark beats to bright bleeps, this is the fourth artist of our rhythmic rundown of ear essentials for the fall!

On the map > Montreal

A hometown hero, Lunice’s hype truly knows no boundaries. While he came up deejaying in Montreal’s bass scene, it was the producer’s take on trap music and his experimentations with layered, synth sounds that made him an international sensation. Equal part producer’s producer and fan favourite dance floor destroyer, Lunice has re-imagined hip-hop’s bounce within electronic music, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. He’s created mixes for FACT Magazine, Dazed and the Boiler Room as well as created official remixes for everyone from The xx to Theophilus London to Foster the People. Along the way, he’s released tracks on some of the hottest indie labels around like Big Dada, XL, Mad Decent and LuckyMe.

Wait, there’s more! Lunice has collaborated with Diplo, partnered with Hudson Mohawke and produced frosty beats that everyone from Azealia Banks to Rick Ross to Angel Haze have rapped over. However, the feather in his cap has to be his production credit on “Blood On The Leaves,” a stand out track from Kanye West’s mint mammoth of an album Yeezus. Like really, where can Lunice go from here? Maybe he should try his hand at viral videos? Oh wait, he already filmed himself popping and locking to Lazer Sword’s “Gucci Sweatshirt” and racked up 320,000+ views on YouTube. Game over. Lunice, the golden kid wins again.
