Kylie Jenner rarely leaves home without them. Miranda Kerr pairs hers with her three-year-old son and Olivia Palermo likes hers with a cape. We’re talking about over-the-knee-boots, one of the biggest trends of the season but also one of the most confusing to pull-off. Do not despair blog readers! We’re here to give you a few helpful tips on how to keep the look chic without heading off in, um, Pretty Woman, territory.
Option 1: the Skinny Jean
Skinny jeans are great for this look. They give you lean line and heeled boots a more casual feel. Make sure to keep your top a little longer than usual, so that it falls over your pockets. A longer shirt will help to elongate the look and make it look like your legs go on for daysssss (which they will).
Option 2: the A-line Skirt
If you’re brave enough to tackle this trend with a skirt, keep it loose. To pair these two together you need to keep it relatively short, so the looser the skirt sits around your thighs, the longer your legs will appear. An a-line skirt, or one with pleats will give you best line. On top, a crisp button-down or (slightly) over-sized sweater will give the silhouette a great downtown feel.
Option 3: Shorts and Tights
Not ready to give-in to winter? Break out the sub-zero friendly shorts. We’re talking heavier materials like suede, leather and tweed. This look is less convincing with gingham. Match them with a pair of similarly coloured tights and all of a sudden you’re five-inches taller and looking so very Parisian (just as long as you keep that bed-head).
And there you have it. Three simple steps to the longest legs ever and the chicest outfit on the block.
