This October we’re going all out ‘70s, all the time. Take a look at how Nichole Ciotti, from the blog Vanilla Extract, styles our favourite trend of the moment – That ’70s Spirit.
“I’m heading into fall with a fresh take on ‘70’s-inspired style. I’m all about the retro prints, round sunglasses, and Call It Spring’s block heels!
I love the fun and free spirit of the ‘70’s. When it comes to putting together looks that honor the decade, I buy pieces that I can re-work over and over again. For example, I decided to skip a memorable embroidered dress and went for a retro-print blouse that I can wear with a denim skirt, skinny jeans, or flares. While the retro-print blouse may be memorable, a top with a muted color palette gives me more outfit options, which is extremely important to me.
Block heels and a round toe are a must if you want to nail the ‘70’s look. They strike the perfect balance between classic and trendy, making it the ideal shoe for all of my fall activities. Whether you pair them with flares or show them off in a denim mini, you’ll be looking groovy, baby
When a new fashion trend emerges, I like to shop my closet to see if anything translates. If you have a denim skirt, floppy hat, or block heels, you’re already half way there. This throwback to the 70’s isn’t going to be short-lived as we learned from NYFW’s fall shows, so now is the time to evaluate and invest in what works for you!”
